A big, big thank you to all the volunteers that made the day such a success. Not forgetting all those who worked hard behind the scenes providing security, dealing with the media, assisting the landing of the helicopter and cooking 100's of hotdogs! Please add your comments below so we can gather feedback from the event. Many thanks, Andy Marsden Assistant County Commissioner (Development) More...

Members from the South Yorkshire Jamboree Unit and the International Service Team from South Yorkshire and a few of their family members joined nearly 800 other fundraisers in the Bounce for Sheffield event that took place on the 25 July at Don Valley Bowl in Sheffield. By taking part in the event, participants broke a World Record for the largest ever space hopper race!!

The event was organised by Yorkshire Cancer Research, Weston Park Hospital and Cavendish Cancer Care - with the money raised split between the three. The organisers of the event kindly agreed that all participants attending the World Scout Jamboree 2011 could split their sponsorship money raised between the above charities and the participants Jamboree fundraising efforts!

Event Manager, Emma Young from Yorkshire Cancer Research said " It was a great day and would like to thank all those that participated. We got some great support at the event from the Scouts who tirelessly put out all the space hopper's, then took part in the event and then helped to clear away afterwards too!! We couldn't have done it without them! I wish the Scouts every success with their fundraising efforts and hope they have an amazing time at the World Scout Jamboree next Summer".

Don't miss the biggest ever Apex Challenge event this Autumn!

It's the most extreme adventure competition of its kind in the UK and you're invited to be part of this amazing weekend of action.

The Apex Extreme is a tough and challenging event for Explorers and the Scout Network, spread across an entire weekend. And this year it's getting even bigger - 80 teams will be joining us at a brand new spectacular location.

It will be physically and mentally demanding but also a great experience. You're likely to be spending your weekend abseiling, canoeing, mountain biking, and completing challenging assault courses, while racing against the clock to gain those crucial Apex points. With more adventure challenges than ever before, this is certainly one you won't want to miss. Already archery and shooting are being added to the ever-growing list of activities.

For this year's event we're heading to a brand new location - the Staffordshire Roaches in the Peak District.

The event is open to all Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members from across the UK and will be taking place on the weekend of the 8th-10th October 2010.

Already more than 40 teams have signed up and there is space for just 80 teams to take part. We are sure this event will reach capacity soon, so get your teams registered early to avoid missing out.
